LUKMANIER PASS & ZERVREILA

November 2016

It was late November and we went on a road trip that would lead us first to Lukmanier Pass and later on to the Zervreila lake. The day started out great with a stunning sunrise that was followed by an amazing moment as some of the clouds had gotten caught on the mountains and were beautifully illuminated by the morning sun. When we finally arrived on the top of Lukmanier Pass, we spontaneously decided to scramble up the mountain beside the lake. As we reached a little viewpoint, we were rewarded with an incredible panorama over the beautiful landscape around us.

We then continued on our way to the Zervreila lake in the afternoon, where we hiked around a little to pass the time until sunset. This evening will forever be one of my favorite memories. The sky just seemed to explode over the lake as the sun was setting and standing there on the dam, seeing the fog come up the valley on the opposite side, I couldn’t really have asked for more.

And just as we thought the show was over because the sun had set, the fog got closer and closer to the dam, resulting in it coming pouring over the top in a glorious arch that curled back down on the other side. This sight is something I'll never forget. We got back to the car that evening speechless and amazed by what we had just witnessed.
